The New Audi Advertising Campaign ? Great Then. Great Now.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 10 -? Audi shows, through its
recently launched advertising campaign, that you can't make history if you
don't already have one. The campaign's tag line, "Great then. Great now."
embraces the rich history of Audi's motorsport success and quattro technology,
Audi's permanent all-wheel drive system.

The new campaign consists of one television spot that will air on national
broadcast and cable stations, two print ads for national lifestyle magazines
and automotive publications, and one radio commercial for spot market use.
The ads will run through the end of the year.

Showing the innovation in Audi's motorsports history, French racing driver
and first woman to win the World Rally Championship, Michele Mouton, narrates
the TV spot stating, "I remember twenty years ago, Audi turned the racing
world upside down. First, by introducing a race car with all-wheel drive and
second, by having a woman drive it."

"We believe that by incorporating this creative campaign into our overall
strategy it will build on Audi's brand image and awareness, especially of our
all-wheel drive experience," said Walter Hanek, Director of Audi Marketing.
"The 'Great then. Great now.' campaign touches on the emotional element
associated with motorsports while coupling it to current technology available
to our customers."

The print campaign incorporates historic racing cars and current models.
The ads, consisting of black and white vintage shots, have been modified to
contain images of the current Audi TT and R8, Le Mans winning race car.

A pioneer in the development of the all-wheel drive system for use in
luxury cars, Audi first unveiled the technology at the Geneva auto show in
1980. Now on its fifth generation with the upcoming 2002 A4, quattro is
available in more than 10 Audi models today.
