Subaru and OnStar Partner to Bring OnStar Services To Outback Customers

CHERRY HILL, N.J., May 23 Subaru of America, Inc. and
OnStar today announced an agreement to offer OnStar in-vehicle safety,
security and information services to Subaru customers beginning with the
2003 Outback.

"The inclusion of a premium driver safety and communications system like
OnStar further differentiates Subaru in a highly competitive marketplace,"
said T. K. Saito, Chairman and CEO of Subaru of America, Inc. "Having access
to OnStar adds greatly to the confidence that comes from driving a Subaru."

OnStar will initially be available as a standard feature on the top of the
line 2003 Outback, the Subaru flagship of its popular all-wheel drive
vehicles. OnStar-equipped Outback vehicles will include a one-year
subscription to OnStar's Safety and Security services. Eventually the
availability of OnStar will be expanded to other Subaru models.

"When Subaru decided to partner with OnStar it further reinforced our
leadership in vehicle telematics," OnStar President Chet Huber said. "With
more than a million subscribers currently and over four million expected by
2003, we are attracting the pre-eminent OEM and content provider brands."
