NEW YORK--May 29, 2001--Fodor's and Navigation Technologies Corp. (NTC) have recently introduced the first digital travel guide product for in-vehicle navigation systems in North America.
The product is now standard in all navigation system-equipped BMW models in the USA.
BMW owners who have vehicles equipped with the On-Board Navigation System will enjoy the highly innovative combination of NAVTECH(R) digital map data - known for its unrivaled accuracy, depth, and reliability - and enhanced travel tools and information from Fodor's best-selling Gold Guide Series. Whether vacationing or simply traveling around one's hometown, this new database feature offers a complete range of travel guide information.
When BMW navigation system users access Points-of-Interest (POIs) such as tourist attractions, museums, hotels and restaurants on their system, they will also receive Fodor's award-winning travel content featuring up-to-date information referring to the POI. Thousands of popular destinations are included coast to coast. This new combined content is provided in addition to the NAVTECH map database, which enables accurate routing and turn-by-turn driving directions.
The new in-vehicle navigation database enables motorists to customize their travel plans by selecting from various destinations (within the U.S. and Canada). For example, a family driving a BMW in Boston can locate a historical site, receive detailed directions to its location, and access information about admission fees and hours -- all from the convenience of their car.
