PixTech Delivers 7-inch Color Displays for Audi Evaluation

    SANTA CLARA, Calif. & ROUSSET, France--June 11, 2001--PixTech, Inc. today announced the delivery of 7-inch full-color field emission displays (FEDs) for evaluation by Audi under the Information Society Technologies Program of the European Commission started in January, 2000.
    The displays delivered are 7-inch (diagonally), full color FEDs, and have a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 480 x 234 resolution and brightness over 600 cd/m2 after filter enabling true video rate capability.
    Dieter Mezger, President and CEO of PixTech, stated, "I am very pleased with the on-time delivery of these displays and the performance the technology demonstrates at this early stage in development."
    Bernhard Senner, Audi project leader, commented, "We are very excited to start our testing of PixTech's display for use in our automotive application."
    Partners of the European Commission IST funded project include PixTech, Audi, XSYS, LETI, and SAES Getters. PixTech is responsible for the development and manufacturing of the FED displays. Audi, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, is responsible for testing and evaluation. XSYS, a subsidiary of Harman International, is responsible for systems integration. LETI (Laboratoire d'Electonique de Technologie et d'Instrumenations), the research arm of CEA (Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique -- the French atomic agency), is responsible for special tasks and SAES Getter, a world leader in getters, will optimize getter materials for FEDs.
