Mitsubishi Motors Starts Major 'Commotion'

CYPRESS, Calif., Aug. 20 Mitsubishi Motors' latest
advertising campaign is not only driving automobile sales -- it's also
increasing record sales for a little-known British DJ. The song "Start the
Commotion" by the Wiseguys has been climbing the charts after being featured
as the theme music for a series of commercials for the 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse
Spyder and Eclipse coupe.

"We're extremely pleased that people are responding to the 'Music of
Mitsubishi,'" said Pierre Gagnon, president and chief operating officer of
Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America.

"'Start the Commotion' is one of several important songs that not only
define our advertising, but reflect the passion in our products," Gagnon said.
"These are stylish cars for people who want to look and feel alive -- and the
music ties them together."

"Start the Commotion" was originally released in 1999 on the Wiseguys
album "The Antidote." But it didn't take off until this summer, after being
featured in the Eclipse ad campaign. Over the past several weeks, the song
charted on Billboard Magazine's Top-40 list and peaked at number two on
Billboard's Heat Seekers charts.

"If it were not for Mitsubishi, no one would have paid any attention to
the Wiseguys," said Keith Hagan, promotions director for Mammoth Records.
"What Mitsubishi did for The Wiseguys has resulted in a Top-40 hit for our
label, and we couldn't be happier."

"Start the Commotion" is not the only song gaining attention from
Mitsubishi's television advertisements. A newly commissioned recording of
"Ooh, La La" (originally performed by the Faces in 1973) backs up the current
Mitsubishi Galant commercial. Sales for that song have more than doubled
since the ad debuted in April.

Mitsubishi Motors has been working with advertising firm Deutsch Inc. to
develop advertisements for the all new 2002 line of Mitsubishi vehicles. The
first of those advertisements will debut on network television on September 3,
2001.

Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. was established in 1982 by
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Tokyo, and markets a full line of vehicles,
including coupes, convertibles, sedans and sport utility vehicles. For more
