STOCKHOLM, Sweden--Sept. 19, 2001--Saab Automobile has chosen Haldex (OMX:HLDX.) AWD system as one of the key systems in a new concept car (Saab 9X), which was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Saab 9X is a concept study of a future car with high performance.
The Saab 9X concept car indicates a future direction of car development that combines sportyness and high vehicle dynamics performance. To help accomplish this, Haldex AWD system was chosen and in close collaboration with Saab the Haldex AWD system has been optimized with regard to the wanted driving characteristics.
Haldex AWD system is connected to the car's CAN-bus system, which means that it can communicate on-line with other electronically controlled systems in order to continuously optimize the AWD system as driving conditions change. The Haldex system's controllability offers a unique possibility to balance and control over- and under steering with high precision and stability.
In Saab 9X, the Haldex AWD system is used to accomplish both an advanced vehicle dynamics control and to enhance traction ability, and at the same time further improve safety.
