AAA Guides Consumers With 2 New Auto Books

ORLANDO, Fla.--Oct. 8, 2001--AAA has published the first two new titles in a series of automotive guides designed to help consumers make informed decisions about their vehicles.
"AAA Auto Guide: Buying or Leasing a Car," includes advice on whether to buy or lease a vehicle as well as whether to buy a new or used vehicle. It also has information on controlling the purchase negotiation, researching cars on the Internet, dealers, one-price dealers, car-buying services and auctions; a breakdown of new car, used car and lease pricing; and warranties.
The book's financing information includes a payment calculation worksheet and prepares consumers for the dealership experience including what to expect during closing. There are also tips on getting the most for your used vehicle.
"AAA Auto Guide: Making Sense of Car Care," will help consumers understand maintenance and service to extend the life of their vehicle and experience fewer problems on the road. It also arrives just in time for AAA Car Care Month in October.
"Vehicle maintenance and repair can be intimidating, but with this book, consumers can have the confidence to change a flat tire, talk to a service technician and even recognize mechanical problems," said John Nielsen, one of the book's authors and director of AAA's Approved Auto Repair Network.
Included in the book are advice on selecting the right repair shop, descriptions of vehicle symptoms and problems to look for, money-saving tips, and a business reply card for a free comprehensive maintenance log.
For those who want more preparation for talking with a service technician, AAA has added a complete, easy-to-understand description of how a vehicle works, including major systems such as cooling, fuel, ignition, electrical, brake, steering and suspension.
Both publications are available at AAA offices, online at http://www.aaa.com, or by calling toll-free 1-877-AAA-BOOK. They are also available at retail outlets and major bookstores. "AAA Auto Guide: Buying or Leasing a Car," sells for $14.95 US/$22.95 CDN. "AAA Auto Guide: Making Sense of Car Care," sells for $16.95 US/$25.95 CDN.
