New Hummer H2 On Sale in July
December 13, 2001
Sacramento - We've been getting real antsy watching the news on TV with scenes of Marines riding around in Humvees, dust pouring up from the back and a gunner riding shotgun on a 50 cal. machine gun mounted on the hood. If this is your kind of vehicle too, then we have some good news. General Motors revealed a newly designed Humvee H2 yesterday that is smaller than the H1 and sells for about one-half of the $100,000 price of the H1. Hey, that's less than a Caddy or a Lincoln for a go anywhere, shoot um up vehicle with a reputation for corralling Taliban.
General Motors picked a perfect time to introduce the vehicle that will go into production in July. It will be built at a new plant established by AM General, a G.M. subsidiary, near South Bend, Ind. The Greenfield plant will employ about 400 people and produce around 40,000 vehicles a year.
