AAA Texas: State Gas Prices Inch Up Over Last Week

HOUSTON--Feb. 15, 2002--Gas prices throughout the state rose about a penny in some locations, according to the Weekend Gas Watch, compiled by AAA Texas. The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for motoring trips.
The average price in Austin-San Marcos is $1.032, up 0.5 cents from last week. Motorists in Corpus Christi are paying an average of $1.064, up 1.6 cents, while Dallas drivers are paying an average of $1.065, up a penny. Houston has an average of $1.043, up 0.8 cents. San Antonio has an average of $1.018, up 0.7 cents.
"The rate of gasoline price increases in Texas were barely noticeable this week," said AAA Texas spokesperson Rose Rougeau. "This is more reflective of the rest of the nation where prices have remained level for about two weeks and shows that the lackluster economy continues to subdue oil and gas prices."
