FHWA 2001 Annual Report Now Available

WASHINGTON, Feb. 28 -- The Federal Highway Administration's annual report, Unifying America, FHWA 2001 Report to the American People, which summarizes many of the agency's key accomplishments in the last year, is now available in print. It is also posted on the FHWA website.

As the stories in the report demonstrate, the FHWA continues to help build and maintain the nation's highways, but is involved in much more. The agency has contributed to the preservation of federal and Indian lands, the construction of quiet pedestrian bridges, improvements to bridge superstructures, and analyses of safety barriers. All those activities are aimed at preserving and enhancing the nation's intermodal transportation system and in helping America remain strong and prosperous. In addition, the report discusses the agency's success at achieving mileposts set out in its six strategic goals; safety, mobility, productivity, the human and natural environment, national security and organizational excellence.

Copies of the report are available from the FHWA Office of Corporate Management, 202-366-9393. The report also can be viewed on the agency's website at http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/ .
