General Motors Named The "Company Of The Year" By The Society Of Hispanic Professional Engineers

Detroit, Mich.- General Motors was recently honored as the "Company of the Year" by the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) at its national conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. SHPE is a national organization of professional engineers who serve as role models in the Hispanic community.

The Company of the Year Award is given to a company or organization based on its assistance in meeting SHPE's goals, enhancing the achievement of Hispanic employees, dedication and commitment to the advancement of the Society's growth and partnership with public schools.

GM has been active in recruiting Hispanic employees, developing minority dealer and supplier programs, and partnering with Hispanic educational organizations. "GM has supported SHPE for more than 20 years, and this award confirms GM's commitment and support of diversity and partnerships with organizations such as SHPE," said Rod Gillum, vice president of GM Corporate Relations and Diversity. GM has also been recognized by Hispanic and Latina Style magazines for its diversity initiatives.
