Vette Credit Card Issued

Prospect Heights, IL - Household International , the $112 billion (managed assets) consumer lender, today announced that its credit card services division will extend its relationship with General Motors to provide the first-ever officially licensed Corvette MasterCard.

The credit card program will begin in June as part of the kickoff of Corvette's 50th anniversary celebration. Household will offer the new credit card to approximately 500,000 Corvette car owners and enthusiasts via direct mail. Invitations to apply will also be extended on corvettemastercard.com, at car club functions and other special Corvette 50th anniversary events as well as through numerous Corvette-related catalogs and magazines.

"Given our other relationships with GM, Household is proud to be part of the 50th anniversary of America's favorite sportscar," said Randy Raup, managing director of cobranded programs for Household's credit card services business.

The Corvette MasterCard builds on Household's successful relationship with GM, which began 10 years ago with the launch of The GM Card®, a program that now boasts more than 6 million cardmembers. In addition, Household recently signed a private label credit card program for Saturn dealers.

"As we begin to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this great vehicle, we are offering the Corvette MasterCard as a new way for Corvette owners and enthusiasts to enjoy the sportscar and get valuable discounts on a wide variety of quality, official merchandise," said Rick Baldick, Corvette marketing director.

Cardmembers benefits will include a 10 percent discount on 50th anniversary Corvette merchandise, which is sold to fans of the popular sportscar through the corvette50thstore.com and the upcoming Corvette 50th anniversary catalog. Enthusiasts can choose between two cards, one that pictures the classic 1953 Corvette, the first model to come off the production line, or the upcoming 2003 50th anniversary edition. Household will offer the Corvette MasterCard at a competitive interest rate with no annual fee.
