Saab Cars USA Continues its Strong 2002 Sales Growth
NORCROSS, Ga., June 3 -- Saab Cars USA recorded sales of 4,002 units in May, a 33 percent increase over 2001. This banner month brought year-to-date sales for the Swedish-based manufacturer's largest market to 16,577 vehicles, a 23 percent jump over 2001.
Strong sales across all products led the company to its second best May ever. Saab sold 1,145 of its 9-3 hardtop models, a 23 percent increase over last year's 934 units. Convertibles continued their upward trend with an increase of 32 percent, 1,124 units versus 850.
The restyled 2002 Saab 9-5 Sedan and SportWagon sales were also up over 2001. In the U.S. market, 1,202 9-5 Sedans were sold in May, up 39 percent over last year's 872 units. Sales of the 9-5 SportWagon increased 48 percent from 359 to 531 vehicles.
"We are extremely pleased with this sales volume from our current model line-up -- and it's only going to get better from here," said Richard O'Kelley, VP Sales for Saab Cars USA. "We have not only built, but are continuing to sustain a robust sales momentum leading into the launch of our all-new Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan early this fall."
