Illinois/Northern Indiana Gas Prices Remain Stable

AURORA, Ill., June 18 -- According to AAA Chicago's most recent fuel gauge report, gas prices have remained steady throughout Illinois and northern Indiana over the last month. Prices in Illinois now average $1.507 a gallon, which is up slightly from last month's average of $1.500 a gallon.

In Cook County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline now averages $1.624 per gallon, which is up 4 cents from last month and down 31 cents from last year.

In DuPage County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline now averages $1.569 per gallon, 4 cents higher than May prices.

In Kane County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.521 per gallon, 2 cents higher than May prices.

In Lake County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.515 per gallon, 1 cent higher than May prices.

In McHenry County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.511 per gallon, 1 cent higher than May prices.

In Will County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.522 per gallon, 2 cents higher than May prices.

In northern Indiana, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.288 per gallon, 10 cents lower than last month and 36 cents lower than last year.

"As we head into the 4th of July weekend, gas prices could edge slightly higher as demand typically increases," said Steve Nolan, spokesman for AAA Chicago. "Despite some minor fluctuations around the holiday, we expect gas prices to remain steady in the near future."
