American Suzuki Automotive Posts an Eight Percent Increase Over July Last Year

BREA, Calif., Aug. 1 -- Bolstered by strong Aerio and XL-7 sales, American Suzuki sold 5,411 vehicles in July, an eight percent increase over July 2001 sales.

Sales of Suzuki's new Aerio and Aerio SX rose to 1,829 for the month, boosting total model sales to 6,349 vehicles since its late March 2002 debut.

Suzuki's flagship XL-7 SUV delivered solid results, notching 2,100 sales, a 12 percent increase over the same month a year ago and a 35 percent year-to-date increase.

"Our XL-7 and Aerio models continue to boost overall Suzuki sales," said American Suzuki President Rick Suzuki. "The new Aerio has taken its place alongside the XL-7 as one of Suzuki's fastest selling models because savvy buyers have discovered both the sedan and sport crossover provide the excellent value for which Suzuki is known.
