BP Presents: Harlem Day & The 13th Annual Upper Manhattan Auto Show; August 18, 2002 -- 9AM - 8PM

NEW YORK, Aug. 14 -- BP is the Presenting Sponsor of feature events as part of New York City's Harlem Week: Harlem Day and the 13th Annual Upper Manhattan Auto Show.

Harlem Week, which has been an annual event in Harlem, NY for 30 years, started as a one-day tribute to Harlem's glorious history and diverse community. Now Harlem Week offers a variety of events throughout the month of August, with a total attendance of over 3.5 million. Estimated total attendance at Harlem Day and the Auto Show is over 600,000 people.

Harlem Day will entertain guests with live music, urban cuisine, and diverse arts & crafts. The Auto Show will feature an exhibition of special vintage, new and collectible vehicles from throughout the region.

BP will present the lead vehicle in the Auto Show Parade, which will begin at 9AM at the great "Duke Ellington" Plaza monument located at 5th Ave. & 110th Street. From there, the parade will head up 110 Street to 7th Ave., and then will travel along 7th Ave. until they reach 135th Street between 5th & 6th Ave., where the cars will be on display until 5pm.

BP will present 12 awards for categories including People's Choice, Oldest Vehicle, Most Unique, Current Model, Special Vehicle, and Longest Distance Traveled. BP will also present two (2) "Connecting With Tomorrow's Leaders" scholarship awards to local youth.

A BP Connect Hospitality Tent will be set up on W. 135th St. between 5th Ave. and Frederick Douglass Boulevard, where people can get out of the hot sun into a shady, fan-cooled area with an open, comfortable BP Connect style layout.

BP Connect Hospitality Tent visitors can enjoy free Wild Bean Cafe food including Tuna, Honey Turkey, and Chicken Caesar Wraps, Chocolate Chip and Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, Lemon Swirls, Cinnamon Rolls, and Croissants. Visitors can also play BP Trivia with a chance to win a $5 BP Gas Card. Wild Bean Buck coupons will be given to all that participate.
