Acura Posts All-Time Sales Record; MDX and 3.2 TL Best August Marks
TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 4 -- Record sales of the MDX luxury SUV and the 3.2 TL luxury performance sedan drove Acura sales to 16,333, the division's best sales month ever, Acura announced today. Year-to-date sales grew to 117,077, up 2.0 percent from last year.MDX sales of 4,625 set a new August record, up 39.1 percent compared to 2001, while year-to-date MDX sales rose to 35,104, up 28.7 percent. The 3.2 TL also recorded a new August record and its third best month ever with sales of 6,368 units.
"There's been a lot of consumer interest across our product line, and the MDX has really boosted sales this year," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, auto sales. "With an improved 2003 MDX and a revised RL arriving in October, demand for Acura models should stay stronger than ever."
Acura's flagship luxury sedan, the 3.5 RL sold 1,200 units, a 19.4 percent increase compared to 2001. Sales of the NSX supercar were up 72.2 percent compared to last year.
