Global sales of Toyota Prius hybrid car top 100,000

September 25, 2002 TOKYO — Toyota Motor Corp said Wednesday global sales of its Prius hybrid passenger car topped 100,000 units in August.

The world's first mass-produced gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle made its debut in Japan in December 1997 and since it has been sold in more than 20 countries and territories. (Kyodo News)
