St. Francis Motorcycle Charity Ride Revs Up Support for Local Children and CHP 11-99 Foundation

    --BMW of North America:

WHEN: October 2-6, 2002

WHAT: More than 60 motorcycle enthusiasts from across the U.S.
will take a four-day ride, departing from Ontario, CA and
making stops in San Diego, the Salton Sea, Palm Springs and
Big Bear Lake. Participants will enjoy the thrill of the open
road while raising funds for the St. Francis Medical Center
"Footprints" program and the California Highway Patrol 11-99
Foundation. Participants in the 12th Annual BMW-St. Francis
Motorcycle Charity Ride, which kicks off with a reception at
St. Francis Medical Center on Wednesday, October 2, will raise
approximately $70,000. That amount will be shared, with
$50,000 being donated to St. Francis Medical Center's
"Footprints" program, which provides shoes and clothing to
hundreds of needy children in East Los Angeles each year, and
$20,000 being donated to the CHP 11-99 Foundation, which
serves families of lost, injured or disabled CHP officers. For
riders, who each donated $800 to participate, it is an
opportunity to experience the wind in their hair while
        contributing to two worthy causes.
