McLaren Performance Technologies Opens Its Doors to the Individual Enthusiast

LIVONIA, Mich., Oct. 31, 2002; McLaren Performance Technologies, Inc. has opened its doors to the individual automotive enthusiast for high- performance tuning, complete classic and muscle car restorations, race and street-rod prep, along with additional engine and powertrain services. Such services for the private owner will supplement the company's recognized engineering activities for the industry.

"Having served the original equipment manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers for more than 32 years, we thought it was high-time for the high-octane enthusiast to also get powered by McLaren Engines," according to Steven Rossi, president and CEO, McLaren Performance Technologies. "With so much original automotive performance development and prototyping having taken place on the legendary McLaren Engines dyno's and in our various other workshops throughout Livonia, we want to accelerate still further by allowing enthusiasts to have access to such recognized capabilities. Simply put -- no one has more passion for the product than the individual owner of a collector car, so that's an audience with which we very much want to share our skill sets," he continued.

Having served a myriad of customers over the years, McLaren Performance Technologies has the infrastructure to serve both the industry and the enthusiast alike through established firewall protocol, etc.

McLaren Performance has already prepared a number of SuperPerformance Cobra replicars, and has just embarked on a ground-up restoration of a flat- head powered, Facel-bodied French Ford (designed by Pininfarina, formerly owned by Henry Ford II) for exhibit at next years' Meadowbrook Concours d'Elegance.

Originally established in 1969 as the engine development company for Bruce McLaren Motor Racing, McLaren Performance Technologies provides full service design, development, fabrication, manufacturing, testing, validation and certification of automotive and racing powertrains, and related components. In addition, classic/muscle car and race car restoration, tuning and prep are now also part of the McLaren Performance portfolio of services.
