Tokyo January 23, 2003; Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) today announced it will name its all-new multi-purpose vehicle due to be launched this spring "Grandis."

The Grandis is the successor of the current Chariot Grandis, a name that proved to be popular with many consumers. The name Grandis was chosen as it matches the new car's looks and spacious, high-quality interior.

With outstanding environmental and safety performance, the Grandis offers a new sense of value that fully brings out the pleasure of driving while also giving owners enhanced peace of mind. A number of unique utilities help make time in the car a more enjoyable experience.

The styling carries on MMC's new design identity seen recently in its new Colt that uses the company's three-diamond logo as a central focal point. The Grandis aims to offer drivers a unique driving experience with styling done based on the keywords "sporty & elegant shape" and "Japanese modern."

In naming vehicles, MMC takes into account global requirements, product concept, and ease of comprehension.
