Fujitsu Renews Sponsorship With Jim Russell Racing Drivers School

SONOMA, Calif.--Feb. 14, 2003--The Jim Russell Racing Drivers School announced today that Fujitsu Limited, the $38 billion global information technology leader, has renewed its sponsorship of the school's USAC Formula Russell Racing Championship Series. Now in its 26th year, the Russell Championship Series has been a breeding ground for many top racers, including Casey Mears, Memo Gidley, Mario Dominguez, Tom Kendall, Johnny O'Connell, Scott Speed and Joel Nelson, among others.
In 2002, two Russell Championship Series drivers were chosen as finalists in Red Bull's Formula One Driver Search. Recent Jim Russell graduates Scott Speed, of Manteca, Calif., and Joel Nelson, of Reno, Nevada, now are competing in the 2003 European Junior Formula, sponsored by Red Bull.
Fujitsu will make a significant contribution to the Russell Championship Series prize package, which includes two races in the 2004 Zetec Formula Ford Championship Series and USAC National Championship honors. The company also will offer the "Fujitsu Most Improved Driver Award," presenting the deserving driver with a Fujitsu laptop computer at the year-end banquet hosted by Jim Russell.
The Russell Championship Series is a 20-race spec series run by the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. Each competitor drives an equally-prepared 160-horsepowered Formula Russell single seat racecar, making it a true test of the drivers' skills. The series kicks off on February 15-16; drivers can sign up by calling the school at 800/733-0345 or visiting www.jimrussellusa.com.
