Latest Production Cars; Dozens of 2004 Models Storm the New York Auto Show
NEW YORK, March 27 -- New York is the place to be this spring as automakers transform the Javits Center into an oasis of style, innovation, power, and performance with the largest collection of new vehicles. On display will be nearly 1,000 cars, trucks, minivans, SUVs and crossover vehicles ranging from just under $10,000 to over $400,000.
"There are more all-new cars and trucks coming to this year's Show than we've ever seen before," said auto show chairman, John LaSorsa. "From the bold new Bentley Continental GT and Cadillac SRX to Nissan's latest drop-top, the 350Z Roadster, the Javits Center will be overflowing with completely new and re-styled 2004 model year vehicles," he continued.
Here's a look at some of the exciting new products that will be on display:
Mercedes-Benz CLK Cabriolet - Just in time for summer, Mercedes drops the top off its popular CLK. Shown for the first time in the U.S. at the Auto Show. Ferrari Challenge Stradale - Nothing tops the raw power and unmistakable beauty of this Italian icon. Nissan 350Z Roadster - One of the hottest fun-in-the-sun convertibles makes its world debut in the Big Apple. Audi RS6 - This ultra high performer features 450 horsepower at 6,500 revolutions per minute, making it a world-class sedan with the heart of a sports car. Dodge Viper SRT-10 - The magic number is 500 for the Viper SRT-10: more than 500 cubic inches of engine displacement, generating 500 horsepower and 525 pounds-feet of torque. Mitsubishi Galant - Making its world debut in New York, Mitsubishi's '04 Galant offers more power and a bold new exterior. Maybach - Luxury looms large as this classic nameplate returns after 60 years with a $350,000+ price tag. Nissan Maxima - The sixth generation Maxima combines high performance with expressive sports styling. Pontiac GTO - American muscle cars are back with a modern twist. BMW Z4 Roadster - A modern interpretation of all the classic roadster features: long and sweeping hood, long wheelbase, short overhangs and a low seating position. Chrysler Crossfire - Autobahn meets Route 66 with this powerful, low-slung two-seater. Cadillac XLR - Cadillac's new rear-wheel drive convertible helps make a bold new statement for the luxury automaker. Audi S4 - Audi pumps 340 horses into the wildly popular A4, makes a few minor adjustments and gives us one of the best-performing sedans on the road today. Bentley Continental GT - Beauty, power, and style rolled into one. VW Beetle Convertible - The new bug evokes the free-spirited attitude of the original 60s soft-top. Mitsubishi Diamante - Be among the first in the world to see Mitsubishi's gleaming new flagship sedan. Volkswagen Touareg - Autobahn road performance and mountain-goat tenacity triumph over the toughest terrain. Cadillac SRX - Look for Cadillac's hot, new SRX to do to "crossovers" what Escalade did to the full-size SUV category. Scion xA and xB - Toyota's recent foray into youth marketing brings two of the hippest cars on the market today. Saab 9-3 Convertible - Trendy convertibles are all the rage this year, and Saab's latest edition is definitely one to see. Check it out for the first time in the U.S. at the Show. Dodge SRT-4 - Look out tuner market, there's a new game in town. With an estimated top speed of 148 mph, sub-six-second 0-to-60 mph times and a $19,995 price tag, this one's got it all. Dodge Ram SRT-10 - As the fastest full-size pickup ever, the Viper-powered Dodge Ram SRT-10 hauls more than just cargo. Porsche Cayenne - One of the world's finest sports car makers spices up the SUV market. MINI Cooper S - John Cooper Works Package - This tuned version takes the 163hp MINI Cooper S to over 200hp. Lexus RX 330 - Technology meets functionality and luxury in the all-new RX 330, equipped with Adaptive Headlights, which actually turn with the steering wheel. Jaguar XJ - Traditional Jaguar style combined with advanced technology mark the launch of the all-new Jaguar XJ series.
