Audi of America, Inc. Announces 2004 Audi A8 L MSRP

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 15 -- Audi of America, Inc. today announced pricing for its most technologically advanced flagship model ever -- the extraordinary 2004 Audi A8 L.

Set to go on sale in June at dealers nationwide, the all-new 2004 Audi A8 L has a manufacturer suggested retail price of $68,500 for its uncompromising long wheelbase luxury flagship.

The all-new aluminum body renders the new A8 L a timeless design, but a sporty character is what really drives the flagship. Audi's stellar 4.2 liter V8 tuned to 330 horsepower at 6,500 revolutions per minute with a peak torque of 317 lbs-ft. starting at just 3,500 rpm, a 6-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic(R) and the legendary quattro(R) all-wheel drive, all add up to provide a top-of-the line sports sedan that doesn't compromise comfort or sporty driving dynamics.

The all-new Audi A8 L has been completely redesigned, starting with a re- engineered Audi Space Frame (ASF) for even greater strength and weight- savings. An innovative Adaptive Air Suspension system with infinitely adjustable adaptive damping control, air spring struts at each wheel which provide consistent ride and driving dynamics at all times. Customers can choose from four pre-defined suspension settings -- from overtly sporty to ultra-comfortable -- to best match their road and driving conditions.

The technological advancements continue inside the 2004 Audi A8 L too. The new model is the first to feature Audi's Multi Media Interface (MMI), an intuitive, user-friendly onboard electronics management system for controlling features ranging from the sound system to the setting of the suspension. Two separate monitors -- a large seven-inch color monitor that can be folded into the top-center of the dash and a three-inch monitor in the center of the instrument cluster -- provide visual confirmation of operator choices. MMI, which is standard equipment, is technology designed to assist the driver, not technology that inhibits the driver.

Among the long list of other standard equipment is quattro all-wheel drive, a sunroof and 12-speaker Bose(R) Premium Surround System with 12-inch subwoofer, bi-xenon headlights, multifunction steering wheel with audio controls, and ten airbags including knee and rear side airbags.

Option packages include a Cold Weather Package with heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel and a ski sack ($1,100); and a Convenience Package with front seat ventilation, electric rear sunshade, rear vanity mirrors, a tire pressure monitoring system and power trunk open/close ($2,500).

Individual options include: solar sunroof panel ($650); front and rear Parktronic(R) ($700); a choice of 18-inch 5-spoke cast alloy wheels with all- season tires ($1,150) or 19-inch 12-spoke cast alloy wheels with performance tires ($1,900).
