Children Face Danger When Riding in Cars
Third Annual State Farm(R) Child Safety Day Teaches Caregivers About Safety
WHAT: In nearly 300 locations throughout the country, State Farm will be hosting free safety seat check-ups. This will allow caregivers to learn the proper way to buckle up children. In many areas, a safety fair with local community groups and safety lessons for children also will take place. WHEN: Saturday, May 17, 2003, Times Vary WHERE: Visit statefarm.com for locations and times near you. WHY: Children being buckled up incorrectly is a serious national problem. Nearly half of U.S. 3 to 8 year old children are incorrectly buckled into vehicles according to Partners for Child Passenger Safety, a research partnership with State Farm and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The National Traffic Highway Safety Administration says that more than 48,000 children were killed or injured last year in car crashes. How many could have been prevented? Parents and caregivers still need to be educated on using the correct type of child seat depending on the child's height, weight and age. CONTACT: Zoe Younker of State Farm, +1-309-766-5242.
