Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino: The British are coming - to the Auto Collections

Las Vegas, August 01 -- - Auto display features classic vehicles produced in UK

The Auto Collections at the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino is encountering its own version of the British Invasion as they put on a display of classic vehicles produced in England.

"This is the finest collection of British-made vehicles outside of Europe and we are very proud to have them on display," said Rob Williams, general manager of The Auto Collections.

The more than 30 vehicles on display in the Grand Salon are from such prestigious names as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, Cooper, Lotus, Morgan and Aston Martin; and features vehicles from the 1930s through the 1960s.

Special vehicles in the collection include the 1931 Bentley 8 Litre Murphy Convertible Victoria, which held a record for recording a lap at more than 140 mph in the 1930s and is the only American bodied 8 Litre Bentley ever built. Also included in the collection are two rare classics from Aston Martin: the 1957 DB2/4 MKII Touring Spyder and the 1961 DB4 GT Zagato. Jaguar's 1963 XKE Lightweight and Rolls-Royce's 1932 Phantom II Continental Figoni et Falaschi Pillarless Berline are also on display. These vehicles are so rare they are valued at more than US$2 million each.

The Auto Collections is known for its tremendous inventory of rare, vintage and famous autos. Among the notable vehicles on display in the main showroom now are a Marilyn Monroe memorabilia car, the "Eleanor" Mustang featured in the movie "Gone In 60 Seconds" and the classic low-rider "The Rose." The Auto Collections is located on the fifth floor of the hotel's self-parking garage and is open to the public daily from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
