Rev up for Old Car Festival, September 6 and 7, at Greenfield Village; Features Pageant of Fords 'From A to T and Beyond'

Parade Stars Rare 1905 Ford Model B and Ford Mustang Serial #1

DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 18 -- The longest continuously running car show in the nation, Greenfield Village's Old Car Festival on September 6 and 7, will welcome throngs of pre-1933 vehicles from across the country to the newly restored village grounds. Highlighting this year's event is "From A to T and Beyond; Greenfield Village Celebrates the Ford Centennial." This amazing array of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles will feature a 1905 Ford Model B, the only remaining model of its kind in running condition, and one of only six in existence, as well as Ford Mustang Serial #1.

Also featured at the Old Car Festival will be OLD 16, the 1906 Locomobile that won the Vanderbilt Cup in 1908; the 999 Racer, the fastest car in the world in 1902; and a replica of Henry Ford's first car, the 1896 Quadricycle. Visitors to Greenfield Village during the Old Car Festival can view these extraordinary automobiles, as well as partake in events and activities focusing on cars manufactured in the 1930s and earlier.

  - Grand Parade -- 10:30 a.m. Daily -- Thirty years of automobile history
    pass before the eyes of visitors during this display, granting proud
    owners the opportunity to show off their prized vehicle.
  - Live the Life of An Early Car Owner! -- 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m.
    and 3:30 p.m. -- Guests can learn how to crank a car, light headlamps,
    and live the experiences of early car owners.
  - Car Camping -- All Day -- The first widely used automobiles opened up
    the opportunity for Americans to explore far-flung parts of the nation.
    Visitors get a look at a 1920s campsite, illustrating what life was like
    on the road when all camping gear was packed on the running boards.
  - Car Games -- 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Daily -- During these events,
    vintage car owners compete to determine the slowest driver and more.
  - Festival Judging -- At the conclusion of the festival, bragging rights
    are at stake as expert judges choose the Festival's Best at the
    Reviewing Stand.

During the weekend-long event, car buffs can keep their engines running with scrumptious meals at A TASTE OF HISTORY(R) and Eagle Tavern, or pick up a tasty treat from Sir John Bennett Sweet Shop and various other concessions at Greenfield Village.

For this special weekend, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission: $12 - $18 Children under 5 and members are admitted free.
