The MathWorks to Showcase FutureTruck Vehicle at Company Headquarters

  Natick-Based Company Hosts Automotive Student Engineering Design Team
                Representatives to Demonstrate FutureTruck

The MathWorks today announced that a student engineer from the Cornell University FutureTruck team will showcase the donated Ford Explorer that the team re-engineered into a hybrid electric vehicle designed to produce less environmental impact and 25% higher fuel economy. The Cornell vehicle competed in the FutureTruck competition that was sponsored by the United States Department of Energy, Ford, and GM, and received The MathWorks 2003 FutureTruck Modeling Award.

  

Interested parties are invited to attend the event to learn more about FutureTruck, and how student engineers are helping the major US automakers reach new frontiers in hybrid technology. As a four-time corporate sponsor of the event, The MathWorks donated a total educational value of $1,297,500, including cash, software donations, and staff time associated with judging the competition.
