Washington State - Its Studded Tire Time

From November 1 to April 1 Studded Tires Are Legal in the State of Washington

SEATTLE, Oct. 31 -- The Northwest Tire Dealers Association (NWTDA) announced today that Washington drivers may now put studded tires on their vehicles for the winter season. In Washington State, studded snow tires will be allowed on vehicles from November 1 to April 1.

Recent media coverage around the potential legislation during the 2004 session that would attempt to ban the use of studded tires in Washington State appears to have led many consumers to wonder if it is legal to put studded tires on their vehicles this year.

"Local tire dealers have been flooded with phone calls from consumers asking whether they can use studded tires this year," said Dick Nordness, Executive Director of the Northwest Tire Dealers Association. "We feel it is important to get the word out to people that from November 1 through April 1 studded tires are permitted."

The NWTDA is an association representing independent tire dealers in the state of Washington.
