AUBURN HILLS, Mich. December 9, 2003; The WSJ reported that DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group Monday tried to distance itself from a Super Bowl Sunday football game to be played by women in lingerie, after coming under fire for sponsoring an event some have called sexist, Tuesday's Wall Street Journal reported.

Chrysler Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche said he and his two closest deputies - - Chief Operating Officer Wolfgang Bernhard and marketing chief Joe Eberhard -- weren't aware the company's Dodge brand would sponsor the "Lingerie Bowl" until after lower-level employees had approved it.

"I am responsible for everything we do at Chrysler, but I didn't know about it," Mr. Zetsche said.

The Lingerie Bowl will be a seven-against-seven tackle football game between models wearing bras and panties. It is scheduled to take place during halftime of the National Football League's Super Bowl on Feb. 1, and it can be seen via pay-per-view for $19.95. As the main sponsor, Dodge will have its ram logo on the bras worn by the players.

Mr. Zetsche said Chrysler executives had a meeting scheduled Monday to review the company's participation in the Lingerie Bowl. It was unlikely the car maker would pull out, he said, because doing so might draw even more attention to the controversy.

Chrysler has had discussions during the past few days with the event's producer, Horizon Productions Inc., about how the Lingerie Bowl is being marketed. The two sides were still discussing the matter late Monday.

Snides Remarks
What red-blooded American guy wouldn't want to watch as almost naked beautiful young women try to knock the snot out of each other.

As the father of three beautiful young women myself and a sensitive new age kinda guy, I think that Dodge would be better off sponsoring The Auto Channel(but alas, No budget they say), but its hard not to agree with the brilliant media experts at Chrysler's ad Agency, that almost naked hotties can help Chrysler get more positive long term benefits for Ram Tough Dodge.

I heard a rumor that Dodge will distribute new 1958 calenders with all 14 players butt naked representing each month of the year. These will look great on the dealer's service area walls.

See ya there...hey the Pay per View cost is under 20 bucks who says there are no more bargains.

Lawrence Taylor Coaching In Lingerie Bowl
Event Features Models Playing Tackle Football

Former football star Lawrence Taylor has been given a "giant" responsibility -- but it has nothing to do with his old NFL team.

The Hall of Fame linebacker from the New York Giants will be coaching a team of models in the Lingerie Bowl.

The live pay-per-view event will be broadcast during halftime of the Super Bowl Feb. 1. According to the event's Web site, the models in the game will be led by Nikki Ziering and Angie Everhart (pictured, right).

Taylor's squad will be matching tackles with a team coached by former NFL quarterback Jim McMahon, who led the Chicago Bears to a Super Bowl victory in 1986. Taylor was played for the Giants Super Bowl champion teams of 1987 and 1991.

The models will line up seven-on-seven in what is being billed as a "full-contact" game. The cost of the pay-per-view event hasn't been set -- but is expected to be under $30.
