Lincoln-Mercury Unveils New Models, Including Its First Car-Based SUV At North American International Auto Show January 2004 (Newstream) -- Lincoln-Mercury is building momentum with 11 new products in six new segments over the next four years. First comes the '05 Mercury Mariner, putting premium into a compact SUV, a model that distinguishes itself with modern design and a refined, car-like ride. It's affordable innovation for drivers looking for a vehicle out of the mainstream.

Lincoln-Mercury will also unveil the teaser Aviator, a hint of the next generation of Ford's mid-sized premium SUV. The Aviator combines sporty lines, a broad stance and generous ground clearance to assert its off-road capability while echoing its on-road refinement. It features a newly designed Lincoln grille, 21-inch spoked wheels, a uniquely wide C-pillar, and a lounge-like interior with flexible storage and seating. Lap tables deploy from the center console to be used for laptop computers, snacks or travel games; DVD screens are integrated into the front and back seats. The Aviator boasts a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission and has permanent all-wheel drive with electronic brake distribution and hill descent.

In addition Lincoln Mercury also introduces:

The Lincoln Mark LT: The industry's first full-size luxury pickup truck. Ford knows how to build great trucks and Lincoln knows how to deliver luxury -- a perfect combination. The Lincoln Mark X (pronounced "Mark Ten") Concept: Lincoln's first two-door convertible concept with a power retractable all-glass roof.
