Nissan North America Paves New Roads for Young Mothers and Their Infants

LOS ANGELES--March 9, 2004--Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) presented the Florence Crittenton Center (FCC) with a new 2004 Quest minivan to support their mission of helping at-risk children forge a better future for themselves. Jed Connelly, senior vice president, sales and marketing, NNA, presented the new Quest to Steve Schultz, executive director of FCC, during the final day of the Nissan Open held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California.

"Nissan is committed to contributing to the community by providing safe transportation for young mothers and their infants, ensuring that they receive the care they deserve," said Connelly.

With the help of the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce, Nissan selected the FCC for their outstanding efforts in providing fulltime residential care for teen mothers and their children. FCC also provides intensive counseling and job training to ensure bright futures for young mothers.

"We are so excited and thankful to Nissan," said Schultz. "This is a great opportunity for us to provide our girls with multiple transportation needs, like getting them to and from the doctor's office, school and work."

Since 1892, the Florence Crittenton Center has provided young teens a place to grow as young individuals. The young mothers at FCC range between 12 and 18 years of age. The center currently facilitates 41 teens and 18 infant/toddlers, who are placed at the FCC by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and Probation Department. FCC also provides job training, financial assistance and counseling to aid teens in achieving advancement in the community.
