NEW YORK, April 7 -- Jaguar North America announces the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices for its 2005 model year S-TYPE sedan and XK sports car model line-ups. Both vehicles, highly regarded for their individual looks, receive subtle yet significant style changes for the 2005 model year.

2005 S-TYPE - More Style, More Choices

Jaguar is re-aligning the price of its 390 bhp (SAE) refined rocket ship to widen its appeal to buyers -- and to bring it more in line with key rivals, like BMW's 545i Sport. The new version will be priced at $58,995, including delivery and destination -- down from $63,120.

Powered by Jaguar's potent 4.2-liter supercharged AJ-V8, the 2005 S-TYPE combines thrilling performance -- 0-to-60 mph acceleration in just 5.3 seconds -- with refined, relaxed high-speed cruising.

For 2005, Jaguar is also taking the S-TYPE to a new level of luxury with the introduction of a special VDP Edition package.

Available on the 2005 S-TYPE 4.2 V8, the new VDP Edition will feature premium leather upholstery with contrast piping, deep-pile footwell rugs, heated seats, rich California burl walnut veneers for the trim and an electronic rear sunblind.

Unique 17-inch multi-spoke "Aurora" alloy wheels are also fitted, along with chrome door mirror caps and Xenon headlamps with auto-leveling. The VDP Edition package will retail for $3,300.

And for the first time ever on a Jaguar sedan, there's a striking, high- tech aluminum fascia option, in place of traditional wood, available on 2005 S-TYPE Sport package 3.0 and 4.2 models, and the S-TYPE R.

Aluminum fascias were made famous in previous Jaguar sports cars, like the legendary E-Type. But this is the first time S-TYPE customers will be able to choose an interior without wood.

Unveiled at January's North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the complete S-TYPE range gets a cleaner, leaner, more muscular look for the 2005 model year.

Subtly, yet comprehensively, redesigned from nose to tail, the 2005 S-TYPE features a new, crisper front-end design, and a bolder, more athletic rear. To improve weight distribution and handling, there's a redesigned lightweight aluminum hood.

The re-engineered body also brings much tighter, closer panel fits throughout the car, emphasizing the new S-TYPE's impressive build quality.

"These significant changes are yet another example of the continuous improvements being made to Jaguar's line-up to ensure they compete at the very top of their class," said George Ayres, Jaguar North America's vice president of marketing.

Jaguar has given its legendary XK sports car a fresh, dynamic, new look for 2005.

Making its North American debut at the New York International Auto Show, the revised XK goes on sale in June, sporting more aggressive front and rear styling.

The subtle upgrades include a new-style XKR mesh grille, new-style XK8 full-width grille splitter, revised front bumper with lower air intake, deeper rear bumpers and new side sills give a more powerful look and improve aerodynamics. New, larger exhaust tailpipe finishers for XK8 and quad tailpipe finishers for XKR. The XKR is distinguished by a new, larger spoiler.

The XK8 models -- coupe and convertible -- also feature new, larger exhaust tailpipe finishers, while the supercharged XKR gets new quad tailpipe finishers and a new larger rear spoiler. Three new multi-spoke wheel styles will also be offered for 2005 -- an 18-inch "Aris," 19-inch "Atlas" and 20- inch BBS "Sepang."
