Mazda Accessories Sales at All-Time High as Drivers Create Their Own Zoom-Zoom

- Endless Options Available to Customize Full Line of Mazda Vehicles -

IRVINE, Calif., July 14 -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today announced sales of $34.9 million in combined port- and dealer-installed accessories for the first half of 2004. Achieving an 87-percent increase in sales since 2001, with an annual growth of over 20 percent each year, Mazda's accessories program is one of the strongest in the auto industry. In a record June 2004 alone, Mazda's accessories group posted sales of $7.5 million nationwide.

Mazda's extensive North American accessory program includes genuine factory accessories for every vehicle the company sells. Since the Genuine Mazda Accessories program was introduced, it has allowed drivers to personalize the look and performance of their vehicles by adding items such as roof racks, bumper step-plates and cargo nets.

"Every accessory Mazda offers provides drivers with a means of creating their own vision of zoom-zoom," said Jack Stavana, Director of Accessory Operations for MNAO. "Offering cutting-edge performance and image enhancement parts that are factory-developed and warranted has made Mazda's accessories business the best in the industry. And this is just the start; there will be plenty more in the future as Mazda continues to introduce exciting new products."

For RX-8, MAZDA6 and MX-5 Miata, the company also offers a line of enhanced performance MAZDASPEED-branded parts. Nearly a third of Mazda's 700-plus dealers across the country are also registered to sell MAZDASPEED accessories. MAZDASPEED accessories include items such as performance exhaust systems which can improve horsepower, suspension parts and stabilizer bars that flatten out handling, and performance brake parts which increase stopping power while reducing stopping distance.

Mazda's industry-leading accessories program also makes Sirius satellite radio, 6-disc in-dash CD and cassette players, and MiniDisc players available to customers as port- and dealer-installed options. Thanks to easily adaptable factory sound systems, adding the media player of choice is affordable and covered by Mazda's new-car warranty.

Mazda North American Operations is responsible for the sales and marketing, customer accessories, parts and service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States. Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., MNAO has more than 700 dealerships nationwide.
