Pontiac Announces 2005 G6 Sedan Pricing

Detroit July 23, 2004; General Motors' Pontiac Division today announced introductory pricing for the Pontiac G6 sedan, an all-new vehicle that delivers total performance, style and refinement. Sales of the G6 sports sedan begin in September 2004.

Pricing for the G6 sports sedan will begin at $21,300 manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP), which includes destination charges of $625. The 2005 G6 GT will be priced at $23,925, which includes destination charges of $625. Pricing for the 2006 GTP Sedan and two other G6 family members, a 2+2 sport coupe and a retractable hardtop convertible will be announced at a later date when production begins next year.

"The G6 is a key part of Pontiac's ongoing renaissance," said Jim Bunnell, general manager for Pontiac-GMC. "We're proud of our new, very nicely equipped 'volume car.' Innovative features and great styling will attract drivers, the ride and handling will excite them."

The G6 6-cylinder and GT models that will debut this fall are powered by a 200-horsepower 3.5L V-6 and controlled by a smooth-shifting, electronically controlled four-speed overdrive transmission. A class-leading 112.3-inch wheelbase contributes to a comfortable ride while maintaining responsive handling.

G6's interior refinement features a sports car cockpit with intuitively placed controls, race-inspired instrumentation, performance driving position, and rear-seat legroom usually found in a larger car. One of the G6's most innovative features is the panoramic roof, a four-section sunroof that opens to nearly twice the area of a typical sunroof and gives even rear seat passengers an open air experience, which will be available for $1500. This feature is a Pontiac segment exclusive in the North American Market.

The G6 will be manufactured at GM's Orion Township Assembly Center in Orion, Mich.
