Sporty Car Stamps Unveiled at Pebble Beach Sunday

  WHAT:        U.S. Postal Service is unveiling the images of the 37-cent
               "Sporty Cars of the '50s" stamps during a special ceremony in
               Pebble Beach, CA.  The stamps will be issued in 2005.

  BACKGROUND:  Striking stamp images of five classic cars from the 1950s
               will be unveiled Sunday by the U.S. Postal Service at the
               54th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.  A 1952 Nash Healey, a
               1953 Chevrolet Corvette, a 1953 Studebaker Starliner, a 1954
               Kaiser Darrin and a 1955 Ford Thunderbird will all be
               featured on 37-cent commemorative postage stamps to be issued
               in 2005.  These stamps highlight the sporty looks of European
               sports cars American GIs favored upon their return from World
               War II.
