Nissan, TeamRTR, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin Partner to Help Children; Nissan and Milwaukee-area Dealers to Donate $3,500 to Make A-Wish Foundation

ELKHART LAKE, Wis.--Aug. 1, 20043, 2004--When a 14-year-old named Brandon arrives at the SCCA SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship at Road America on Sunday, August 22, for a short time he may be able to forget about his life-threatening medical condition.

His day will be full of screeching tires, high-revving engines and all of the sights, sounds and smells that come with being a member of Nissan driver Peter Cunningham's TeamRTR. Cunningham, defending race champion, races a Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V in the Touring Car series.

"Nissan is thrilled to be able to partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) of Wisconsin again this year, and help provide some joy for a youngster like Brandon," said Ron Stukenberg, senior manager, Nissan Motorsports marketing and operations. "It's fantastic that a small gesture on the part of Nissan and TeamRTR can affect one family so greatly."

Prior to the race, Brandon will be front and center in the TeamRTR pit in his duties as Cunningham's honorary crew chief. During the race, Brandon will wear a TeamRTR uniform and headset. He will be in radio contact with Cunningham listening to team communications about track conditions, lap count and the competition's track position. Brandon, a resident of De Pere, Wis., will also be the official race starter.

This is not Brandon's first experience in the world of professional auto racing. Last March, he was flown to a NASCAR race in Las Vegas to meet his racing idol Dale Earnhardt Jr., who treated Brandon to a VIP tour of the garage.

Brandon was the recipient of a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin, which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since the Wisconsin chapter was founded in 1984, more than 2,300 families statewide can attest to the power of a wish.

In addition to making Brandon a TeamRTR member, Nissan and the Make-A-Wish Foundation are partnering to help grant the wishes of other Wisconsin children. During July, local Nissan dealers donated $50 from the sale of every Sentra, and Nissan North America Inc. matched that amount. The final $3,500 check will be presented to the Foundation during race-day ceremonies. Nissan's support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is part of Nissan's global commitment to "Enriching People's Lives" through charitable contributions, in-kind donations and other philanthropic investments.

Cunningham, who owns TeamRTR, and is a six-time SCCA Pro Racing champion, is making an emotional return to his home track to defend his win last year. In 2003, Cunningham finished fourth in the Driver's Championship points, including his flag-to-flag win at Road America to score Nissan's first win in the series, plus two podium finishes, five top-five, and six top-ten finishes. Cunningham, who has won more professional sports car races than anyone in North America, is sixth in the 2004 World Challenge standings after seven of 10 races.
