State Tow Association to Set World Record for Longest Tow Parade

WENATCHEE, Wash.--Aug. 1, 20046, 2004--This Friday night, as part of the NW Regional Tow Show and Road-E-O sponsored by the Washington Tow Truck Association, the annual "Light Parade" will be the site for the World's Longest Tow Parade. The parade starts on the north end of the city of Wenatchee at dusk and will run through the downtown area.

Each tow truck turns on all its lights, and many trucks add dozens of extra lights just for the parade. Kurt Gillard, of George Washington Towing, and Chair of the Light Parade Committee, said he plans to close his tow business and bring every truck he owns to participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity to set the record for "World's Longest Tow Parade".

Tow trucks must be signed up in advance to be counted for The Guinness Book of Records. Any and all tow trucks are eligible and drivers can visit the Tow Show registration desk at the Convention Center on Friday but they must register prior to the parade to be 'officially' counted. Also, each truck that signs up in advance will receive a dash plaque from Gilchrist Commercial Truck Center of Tacoma to commemorate the event.

The Washington Tow Truck Association is a non-profit corporation established in 1958 by tow operators to protect and promote the interests of the tow truck industry. WTTA has become the voice of Washington tow operators and is recognized as the leading authority on the tow truck industry. The Association works to promote a profitable operating climate for tow operators by working with Washington State Patrol, Department of Transportation, Department of Licensing, the Legislature, and organizations directly or indirectly related to the tow business. WTTA is the oldest tow association in the country.
