Acura Sets Sales Record for August 2004
TL and TSX Post Record-Setting Months
TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 1 -- Marking its ninth consecutive record-breaking month, Acura posted record August sales of 16,434 vehicles, surpassing the previous mark of 16,333 set in 2002 and up 9.5 percent versus last year, the division announced today. Year-to-date, Acura sales rose to 130,229, up 14.9 percent compared to 2003.
The TL performance luxury sedan posted a new August sales record and was the top-selling model for the eleventh straight month, selling 6,445 units, up 52.3 percent over last year. Year-to-date TL sales jumped to 51,628, exceeding last year by 44.9 percent. The TSX sports sedan also set a new August sales record, up 34.0 percent compared to 2003. TSX sales of 3,119 units surpassed the previous record of 2,514 vehicles set last year and marked the sports sedan's third best sales month ever.
"Like our Olympic athletes, both the TSX and TL performance luxury sedans continue to shatter records," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. "With the all-new RL joining this winning sedan lineup next month, we are optimistic that Acura sales will continue to achieve gold."
Continued strong demand for the MDX luxury SUV helped boost monthly sales to 4,823, with year to date sales of 37,952, up 2.5 percent over last year.
