Hyundai Motor America's Dealers Hit the Pavement to Contribute More Than $250,000 to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Team of Hyundai Dealers Participate in 16th Annual Boston Marathon(R) Jimmy Fund Walk to Help Kids Fight Cancer

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 17 -- Hyundai Motor America (HMA) and its eastern region dealers will contribute more than $250,000 on behalf of its national charity, the Jimmy Fund -- the fundraising arm of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Ed Bradley, vice president of national sales, and Mark Cronin, eastern region general manager, will lead the Hyundai team in the Jimmy Fund Walk -- an annual walk along the historic Boston Marathon(R) route to raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Fitting in with the theme of this year's walk, "Be a Hero(R)," a team of true "Hyundai Heroes," will embark on a 26.2-mile walk on Sunday to aid the fight against children's cancer.

"We are extremely proud to be one of this year's largest Jimmy Fund Walk fundraisers," said Mark Cronin, eastern region general manager, Hyundai Motor America. "Pediatric cancer is Hyundai Motor America's national philanthropy and we are committed to continuing to support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's efforts in the fight against children's cancer."

In addition to participating in the Walk, Hyundai dealer Tom O'Brien recently received the Thomas A. and Jean R. Yawkey Memorial Award. The Yawkey Award is the Jimmy Fund's highest award. Named for the late owners of the Boston Red Sox, the award is given annually by the Boston Red Sox to individuals or organizations that have demonstrated a commitment of 10 or more years to the lifesaving mission of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

"I am honored to receive the Yawkey Memorial Award this year," said Tom O'Brien, Hyundai Dealer. "My dealership was the first to begin contributing to the fight against pediatric cancer and I'm thrilled that Hyundai Motor America has stood behind this charity and raised an incredible amount of money to help save children's lives."

Hyundai Motor America, a dedicated member of the American community, is the first and only automobile manufacturer in the U.S. to focus exclusively on fighting childhood cancers. In August, Hyundai presented the Jimmy Fund with a check for $389,739. Additionally, Hyundai and its dealers raised more than $1,000,000 for pediatric cancer research in 2003. To raise the money, Hyundai dealerships nationwide donated a portion of each vehicle sold. A portion of the money was also donated to regional pediatric cancer care programs at Duke Children's Hospital and Health Center, Chicago Children's Memorial Hospital, and City of Hope Cancer Center.
