New Hummer Red Cross Vehicles

The American Red Cross HUMMER H1 (left) and H2 are revealed Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004 in South Bend, Indiana where it was announced HUMMER owners and General Motors will make significant contributions to disaster relief efforts. South Bend Red Cross Executive Director Jeanette Simon (L to R), HUMMER Club Inc. Director Mike Morris, GM Foundation Chairman Rod Gillum, HUMMER General Manager Susan Docherty and American Red Cross President and CEO Marty Evans made the announcement during the American Red Cross Disaster Response Symposium. Members of the HUMMER Club Inc. will become certified as Red Cross volunteers who can be deployed in local chapter and national relief operations to drive supplies and people into disaster areas that other vehicles might not be able to reach. The volunteer program will go by the name of HOPE ­ HUMMER Owners Prepared for Emergencies. In support of the HOPE program, the GM Foundation will contribute $4 million to the American Red Cross over a six-year period. (General Motors/John F. Martin)
