Agile Announces Solution to Support End of Life Vehicle Programs

Product Governance & Compliance Solution Expanded to Support Automotive Industry ELV Directive Requirements

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 23 -- Agile Software Corporation , a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, today announced support for automotive customers addressing End of Life Vehicle (ELV) Directive requirements. Joining the company is Joel Kroon, a twenty five-year automotive industry and technology specialist, who will drive Agile's solution delivery for automotive customers. Kroon formerly headed programs at Detroit's Centor Software, where he was responsible for program management and implementation services for Tier 1 automotive and electronics supplier firms.

"Agile understands the pressure manufacturers are under to meet compliance requirements while at the same time continuing to improve product profitability. Every day we help our customers comply with FDA, Waste of Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) and the Restrictions on Hazardous Substance (RoHS) guidelines," said Bryan Stolle, Agile Chairman and CEO. "By leveraging this experience, applying our proven PLM platform, and extending our compliance capabilities specifically for the automotive industry, we are supporting our automotive customers' efforts to successfully address the ELV Directive requirements."

In the recent AMR Research report, Automotive Industry Outlook: Profits and Compliance Require IT Investments To Boost Vehicle Quality, analyst Kevin Mixer notes that "in just the last four years, the Automotive industry has been taxed with a number of new compliance requirements ... [that] will cost the industry almost $2B ... over the first three years. The ELV regulations, which aim to decrease millions of tons of waste generated by vehicles, will affect manufacturers of vehicles or components doing business in Europe and soon Japan."

The core of the ELV solution is Agile Product Governance & Compliance (PG&C), a solution developed to specifically address the growing number of environmental regulations and policies that impact product content, import, export and disposal. Agile worked closely with its customers in multiple industries to develop PG&C, to enable compliance with regulations regarding the WEEE directive, ROHS regulations, and ELV reporting requirements. The solution specifically supports the "design for environment" process in order to minimize the cost of compliance.
