AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch; Crude Hits 11 Week Low
IRVING, Texas--Dec. 3, 2004--Gasoline prices slipped for the fifth straight week following a dramatic decrease in crude prices, according to AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch.The statewide average for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline dropped only a tenth of a penny to $1.826. Last year, the Texas average was 42.4 cents lower at $1.402 a gallon.
"Crude prices slid to an 11-week low this week, below $45 a barrel," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "This drop comes after a government report showed an increase in crude oil and gasoline inventories which eased concerns about a winter supply shortage. If crude prices continue to drop, retail gas prices should follow."
The national average for regular self-serve gasoline fell about a penny to $1.936 a gallon.
