AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch

IRVING, Texas--Jan. 7, 2005--For the tenth consecutive week, Texas motorists have enjoyed falling gasoline prices, according to AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch.

The statewide average for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline dropped almost two cents to 1.664.

The cheapest on the list is Corpus Christi at $1.576 a gallon, down two cents. Dallas has the highest average price on the list at $1.668 a gallon - a weekly decrease of 2.1 cents.

"A ten-week trend of lower prices is notable, but gasoline prices remain 23 cents per gallon higher now than at this time last year," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "For the past four years, we've observed increases in gasoline prices beginning in January and we expect a repeat of that in 2005."

The national average for regular self-serve gasoline fell nearly two cents to $1.766 a gallon.

AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for automobile trips.
