Toyota Job Application Process Begins Sunday, February 27 Applications Being Accepted For Production Team Member Positions

February 25, 2005 -- San Antonio, TX -- Beginning Sunday, February 27, residents of Bexar County and surrounding counties will have approximately two weeks to apply for positions as production team members at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc. (TMMTX).

"This is an exciting time as we identify the majority of our workforce of Texas residents who will build the Toyota Tundra in San Antonio," said TMMTX president Hidehiko "T.J." Tajima. "These are the team members who will stamp, weld and paint the truck body, and then assemble all of the parts onto the vehicle. They are the heart of our operation."

Leo Gomez, TMMTX general manager for administration, said Toyota seeks applicants who demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to team work.

"It's physically demanding work, in a team environment where safety, quality, punctuality, flexibility, respect for others and continuous improvement are top priorities," he said. "Team members will also participate in a rotating shift schedule, where they will switch shifts every two weeks."

Applicants must be 18 years or older and legally authorized to work in the United States. All applicants are urged to be patient throughout the multi-step process, as assessment and hiring will take place over the course of the next 10-12 months.

There are only two ways to apply. Alamo WorkSource will accept applications for production team members online at AlamoWorkSource.org or by calling 1-877-Alamo-56 from February 27 through March 13, 2005.

The application line will be open to residents of Bexar, Atascosa, Bandera, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kerr, Kendall, Medina and Wilson counties.

In 2003 Toyota chose a 2,000-acre site in San Antonio to build approximately 150,000 Tundra full size trucks annually, beginning in late 2006. The new plant will represent an $800 million investment by Toyota. In addition to the 2,000 jobs Toyota will create, 18 automotive suppliers will set up operations on the site of the new plant and employ an additional 1,500 team members.
