2005 Acura MDX Earns 5-Star Ratings in NHTSA NCAP Frontal Crash Tests

April 4, 2005 -- Torrance, Calif. -- The 2005 Acura MDX earned the highest possible ratings awarded during the most recent NCAP frontal crash tests conducted by the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The MDX scored the top rating of "five stars" for both driver and front passenger safety. Acura's hot-selling SUV had already achieved 5-star ratings during NHTSA's SINCAP (side impact) tests.

The 2005 MDX has demonstrated continued sales growth for Acura since its debut in 2000. Standard safety features include Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), side curtain airbags, dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags, front side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), and rollover sensors designed to trigger the side curtain airbags in the unlikely event of a rollover.
