Student Race Team to Enter Tour De Sol Race with World's First Hybrid Super Car

The world's first hybrid super car, a 300-horsepower convertible that gets 60 miles per gallon and was built by a team of 10th to 12th grade students at West Philadelphia High School, will be leaving Philadelphia on Thursday, May 1, 20052, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. to travel to Saratoga Springs, New York, to enter the 17th Annual Tour De Sol.

The Tour De Sol is sponsored by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA). The West Philadelphia High School entry into this year's race was sponsored, in part, by AFSCME Local 1637 and District Council 33.
