GARDENA, Calif.--Aug. 4, 2005--Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) and The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) will award scholarships totaling $100,000 to ten (10) Los Angeles-area high school seniors during a celebration on Thursday, August 4 at Nissan's headquarters in Gardena.

"The Nissan-UNCF `SHIFT_' knowledge Scholarship Program awards those high performing, well-rounded students who recognize the benefit of enriching their personal and academic experiences at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU)," said Terri Hines, senior manager, public affairs & lifestyle communications, NNA. "The joint partnership between Nissan and UNCF supports our mutual goal of empowering our communities through investments in youth and higher education."

The event will bring together those students who will be attending an HBCU in Fall 2005.

"UNCF is proud to align with Nissan as we support the dreams and aspirations of these incredible students," said Renita Tyson, area development director, UNCF. "These top-notch students will be a tremendous asset at their respective HBCU campuses."
