Four World Premieres from Opel

RUSSELSHEIM & FRANKFURT, Germany--Aug. 3, 20051, 2005--Adam Opel AG:

-- Open-air feeling with Astra TwinTop

-- Six-cylinder power in Vectra OPC

-- New Vectra and Signum with distinctive Opel face

-- New Zafira with natural gas propulsion

Opel presents four world premieres and a host of product innovations at the 61st International Automobile Exhibition in Frankfurt (September 15 - 25, 2005). Opel expects the dynamic Astra TwinTop cabrio-coupe to attract a lot of attention at the stand in Hall 8. A particular highlight of the four-seater, which goes on sale in the spring of 2006, is its electro-hydraulic retractable hardtop. Thanks to innovative kinematics, the three-part roof system takes up very little space, leaving plenty of room for passengers and luggage. The public will also get a first look at the OPC variants available from November, the five-door Vectra and the Vectra station wagon with a 255 hp, 2.8-liter V6 turbo gasoline engine. A technological highlight is the second-generation IDSPlus chassis, which has only been available for an elite circle of super sports cars until now. The visually striking and technically enhanced new versions of the Vectra and Signum are also in the spotlight. The fourth premiere is the new Zafira 1.6 CNG with particularly economical and environmentally compatible natural gas propulsion.

These world premieres at the IAA are complemented by an array of further Opel highlights. The Tigra TwinTop "Linea Rossa", for example: this special limited edition (1500 units) is available in the exterior colors Metro and Star Silver, with an eye-catching carmine fabric and leather interior. The model year 2006 Combo is more versatile and attractive than ever. The passenger variant of the compact van line now comes standard with a hatchback instead of rear wing doors. Also new is the Combo 1.6 CNG with natural gas propulsion.

In addition to a wealth of innovations, Opel presents IAA visitors a wide range of current models, engines and technologies. Major players here are the Astra and second-generation Zafira, which has just swept into the market. The Astra is available as a five-door, station wagon and GTC model. Since its sales start in March 2004, over 500,000 units of the bestseller have been produced in Europe. During the recently completed, largest test-drive campaign in the history of the automotive industry, the "Million Mile Test Drive" in Europe, or "Germany Takes the Opel Test", the comparison test winner again proved its popularity. After the Tigra TwinTop and the Signum, the "German Champion" in the J.D. Power Report 2005, the Astra was the most requested model. The popularity of the Astra and Zafira lines will get another boost from the 240 turbo hp OPC versions available from October. With both their customers and the environment in mind, Opel took another step forward with its diesel particulate filter initiative: since July 1, the company has offered all diesel passenger cars with a particulate filter.

Opel stand in "Heaven on Earth" design

Opel's 4480 square meter stand in Hall 8 is a "Heaven on Earth" concept and sets a special accent with its creative design. Airy blue strips of fabric float over the light brown parquet floor, and function as room dividers while accentuating the forms of the more than 40 exhibits. The columns in the hall are transformed into brilliant yellow brand pillars. The central arena is surrounded by a multi-media screen and spotlights the premiere model Astra TwinTop on a round, shimmering silver platform with elaborate water fountains. Important information on all the cars is available via numerous monitors, at the various thematic counters or the main service desk.
