Nissan Europe Reports August 2005 Sales

TRAPPES, France, September 8 -- Nissan Europe reported total sales of 35,849 vehicles(1) in August 2005, an increase of 13% over the same month last year. This is the fifth consecutive month of exceeding prior year sales.

In the eight month period from January to August 2005, Nissan Europe sold 372,640 units, 3% up from last year.

Highlights by Country

- Nissan in France sold 2,687 units in August, registering a 6.4% increase compared to last year. In the eight month period from January to August 2005, Nissan sold 33,264 units in France, up by 5.8% compared to last year.

- In Germany, Nissan sold 5,493 units in August, representing an increase of 1.6% compared to last year. In the eight month period from January to August 2005, Nissan sold 37,834 units in Germany, 4.1% down from last year.

- In Italy, Nissan sold 2,078 units in August, down 14% against last year. In the eight month period from January to August 2005, Nissan sales in Italy fell to 40,341 units, down by 23.2% compared to last year.

- In Russia, Nissan sold 3,755 units in August, up 35.6% against last year. In the eight month period from January to August 2005, Nissan sales in Russia rose to 28,869 units, up by 75.5% compared to last year.

- Nissan in Spain sold 4,457 units in August, up 5.9% compared to last year. In the eight month period from January to August 2005, Nissan sales in Spain rose to 48,581 units up by 9.5% compared to last year.

- In the UK, Nissan sold 3,692 units, an increase of 10.7% compared to last year. In the eight month period from January to August 2005, Nissan's sales in the UK reached 66,863 units, up 3.7% compared to last year.

Model Highlights

- The Micra sold 9,158 units in August representing an increase of 14.3% against the same month last year. In the eight month period from January to August 2005, total Micra sales reached 110,815 units, down 2.2% compared to last year.

- X-TRAIL sales increased by 26% in August against the same month last year to 4,731 units. In the eight month period from January to August 2005, total X-TRAIL sales reached 41,609 units, up by 0.3% compared to last year.

- Murano sold 864 units in August. In the eight month period from January to August 2005, total Murano sales reached 5,962 units.

- Pathfinder sold 1,673 units in August. In the eight month period from January to August 2005, Pathfinder sales reached 12,002 units.

- Navara sold 1,681 units in August. Since its launch in July, total Navara sales reached 2.758 units.

Last year, the company produced a total of 448,513 vehicles in its Spanish and British plants and sold 543,948 vehicles in Europe.
